Garwood Library Joins STELLA Consortium In-Person

Garwood Library has joined a library services consortium called STELLA, short for Sharing and Technology Enhancing Local Library Access. STELLA is a consortium with 43 libraries and 50 branch locations, spanning Middlesex, Monmouth, and Union Counties, including the neighboring communities of Cranford, Westfield, Scotch Plains, Clark, and Fanwood. After we transition to STELLA, Garwood residents can reserve items from any of the 40+ libraries and have them sent directly to our Library for checkout. This will expand the number of books and other items that Garwood residents have access to more than 3.2 million! Garwood library cards will also be automatically accepted at all STELLA 43 libraries. To make the transition, there will be several temporary impacts to service.

May 6 to June 13: No new material can be added to our collection and no Interlibrary loan requests can be made.

June 4 to June 13: No new holds can be placed, no library cards can be issued, accounts cannot be accessed without library cards, and check outs will be for a 2-week period only.

June 13- Garwood Library opens at 1 pm. The new STELLA system will be accessible to the public
